Respirator Testing
 |
Pulmonary Screening
HCI's NIOSH/OSHA trained
technicians perform the pulmonary
screening and leave the results with
your facility for review by your
company physician. HCI will perform
no analysis of these results. |
 |
 |
Pulmonary Screening and
Analysis Including Respirator
Medical Clearance (PFT)
HCI's trained technicians perform
screenings and HCI's physician
provides analysis and respirator
medical clearance for those employees
that need this clearance to perform
their assigned work duties while
wearing a respirator per OSHA
requirements. |
 |
 |
PFT Data Analysis Only
Including Respirator Medical
Clearance
For screenings not conducted by HCI,
HCI's physician provides analysis
and respirator medical clearance only. |
 |
 |
Respirator Fit Testing
Determination of an employee's ability
to wear, and the effectiveness of the
face piece of the respirator, while
performing assigned duties. |
 |
 |
Qualitative Fit Testing
An assessment of the adequacy
of respirator fit by detection of
odors, or taste - with Pulmonary
Function Testing including
Respirator Medical Clearance
|
 |
Quantitative Fit Testing
A computerized numerical
assessment of the adequacy of
respirator fit by measuring
concentration of particulates -
with Pulmonary Function Testing
including Respirator Medical
Clearance |

Breathe easy, with respirator clearance/PFT and fit testing. |

Permissible Exposure Limits for dangerous inhalants continue to tighten - and the importance of determining the "fitness"
of respirator users and the "fit" of their respirator have never been greater. Fortunately, comprehensive respirator
clearance/pulmonary function testing and respirator fit testing are available through HCI and conducted in a fast,
convenient and thorough manner.
Whether in conjunction with other audiometric test services or scheduled separately, you save precious time and benefit
from the latest in testing techniques and equipment - all designed to protect you and your employees from the potentially
catastrophic effects of an improperly fitting respirator.

Respirator Clearance/Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) |
| |
HCI conducts fast (usually 10 minutes or less), complete Pulmonary Function Testing with NIOSH-trained technicians
using the Puritan-Bennett Spirometry System, the same state-of-the-art Spirometers favored by the Mayo Clinic.
The PFT screening test:
 |
Helps determine if an individual is "cleared" to wear a particular type of respirator by precisely measuring certain
lung expiration characteristics. |
 |
Detects both obstructions (a prolonging of airflow during expiration) and restrictions (inability to fully expand the lungs). |
 |
Clears those employees with a breathing ability that falls into the normal range based on age, weight, gender,
height and overall health. |
|
Qualitative and Quantitative Fit Testing |
| |
HCI is one of the only national mobile testing providers that offers both qualitative and quantitative respirator
fit testing to determine proper fit of all types of respirators. This is significant, since different types of work environments
and respirator use conditions may create a preference for qualitative or quantitative fit testing.
HCI uses a computer-aided PortaCount Plus Fit Tester device to provide the most empirically precise test data available.
It accurately measures the ambient particulates found in the respirator vs. those found in the ambient air. It is therefore
completely objective and not reliant on the employee's ability to detect a potentially hazardous substance.

Test Data Management System |
| |
The hallmark of all HCI testing is the speed and thoroughness of the reporting process. The respirator
clearance/PFT report, for example, lists all employees tested with test date, pass/fail, obstruction/restriction status,
and even whether the employee is a current smoker.
HCI fit test reports list employees, the brand, size and model number of each respirator tested for each employee,
and whether the fit test was passed or not. All of this information is then stored within HCI's powerful database server available for future reference.
Even better, every HCI report is available to customers in real time, 24/7, at www.hcihealth.com.
